Your phone rings, and the caller ID says First Eagle Federal Credit Union. The caller says they’re from our fraud department and need to verify a charge. They know your name, part of your card number and even some of your recent transactions. They sound official.
Then they ask for your PIN or security code.
Stop right there. That isn’t us.
How the scam works
Scammers can fake, or “spoof,” caller ID so their calls look like they come from First Eagle, Amazon or even the IRS. They mix urgency with personal details they’ve gathered so you feel pressured to act fast and hand over access to your account.
The caller ID on your screen can’t tell you who’s really calling.
What First Eagle will never ask for
If we call you, we will never ask for:
- Your full account number
- Your online banking password
- Your PIN or card security code
If someone asks for any of these, it’s a scam, even if the caller ID looks real.
Two steps to protect yourself
- Hang up. Don’t engage, argue or confirm any details.
- Call First Eagle directly. Use the number on the back of your First Eagle card, call 888-231-2022, or find our contact information on our official website.
Taking two minutes to make that call could save you thousands of dollars and a lot of stress.
Trust your gut
When something feels off, it usually is. You don’t have to figure it out alone, because we’re in your corner. If you have a question about a call, text or email that seems suspicious, reach out to us and we’ll help you sort it out.
Together, we can stay ahead of scammers.
